Walks

I have compiled a series of walks which together take you to all the locations mentioned on this web site. Stout walking shoes/boots are recommended for all the walks as some of the paths can be muddy. All walks are suitable for the casual hiker and circular with some slight scrambles and steep inclines being the only obstacles. Please take care on paths that go near the edge and DO NOT enter any of the mines!

You might like to check the weather forecast if you are planning a trip to Alderley Edge and you can do so here.

The Wizard Walk    3.5 miles

Most of the places described on this web site are visited on this walk which starts at the Wizard car park and stays on the top of the Edge.

Mottram Quarry Walk    2.3 miles

Involves the most climbing as you start at the bottom of the Edge but still a relatively easy walk. Starting at Mottram Quarry you make your way to the top of the Edge and come back down past Stormy Point and Pillar Mine.

Castle Rock Walk    2.3 miles

This walk takes you around the top of the Edge and through the woods on the southern side of Macclesfield Road.
