Druid's Circle

The Druid's Circle lies deep within the woods on the path between Stormy Point and the Beacon. Many people have been fooled into believing that it is an authentic stone circle including Marriott who described it in great detail in his book Antiquities of Lyme [8]. In reality the Druid's Circle is roughly 200 years old and has no earth lines registered around it [3]. Alan Garner claims that his great-great grandfather Robert Garner created the Druid's Circle along with the inscription above the Wizard's Well. Robert Garner was a local stonemason and it is said he had some old stones to dispose of and so decided to add a little antiquity to Alderley Edge [9].
